Curriculum:

The goal of the early childhood curriculum is to help your child work toward mastering the 4K Learning Targets, which are based on the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards and aligned with the District Curriculum. The academic programs in 4K mirror those used in the Hartford Jt. #1 elementary schools. Reading, writing, and word study foundational skills are built using the Fountas and Pinnell Literacy program. Mathematics and numeracy skills are developed through the Bridges program. The Second Step program teaches children how to work well with others. In 4K, you will see whole and small group instruction, partner work, independent work, and learning centers.

What does a typical day look like in 4K?

• Students learn through learning centers and discovery play
• Students engage during both active and quiet times
• Students participate in large and small group activities
• Students play both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting)
• Students participate in teacher-directed activities
