The city of Hartford has steadily grown to over 14,000 people. Supporting the area are several employers covering both the manufacturing and service industries that serve local, regional, state, national and international clients. The city has about 60 industrial firms ranging from printing at Quad Graphics to home ventilation fans at Broan Manufacturing. Hartford is the second largest city within Washington County. It is an expanding city with many apartment buildings and new home construction occurring. Some residents commute to Milwaukee or surrounding communities for employment. The city’s excellent schools and proximity to metropolitan Milwaukee make Hartford a popular choice for families to settle.
The city of Hartford consists of two school districts: Hartford Union High School for students in grades nine through twelve, and Hartford Jt. #1 School District for students in early childhood through grade eight. The Hartford Jt. #1 School District provides instruction from licensed teachers in reading, mathematics, social studies, science, language arts, study skills, computer skills, library/media, health and physical education, art and music, technology education and family/consumer education. A comprehensive high school curriculum prepares the area youth for post-secondary options.
