Advanced Learner Philosophy and Goals

The advanced learner program at the School District of Hartford Joint #1 is designed to create higher level, multifaceted and innovative learning opportunities for students. The program strives to support classroom teachers as evidenced by the teaching of differentiated instructional strategies observed in the classroom. Whole group techniques such as cluster grouping, flexible grouping, extracurricular enrichment opportunities, and math problem solvers all contribute to the program design to advance student achievement through personalized learning experiences. Even more specific learning opportunities exist for students that want more specialized learning opportunities through programs such as virtual learning, grade acceleration and high school placement.
